On July 8, 2011 my family and I attended the 2011 opening of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant in De Smet, South Dakota. The theme for the pageant this year was "By the Shores of Silver Lake". This year marks the 40th anniversary of this pageant and the first year we have ever attended. If you attend one of these pageants in the future, you'll find a friendly staff, who all volunteer, and I'm sure you will enjoy your time. We had attended the Ingalls Homestead last year for a visit and really enjoyed it, so this year we decided we needed to make a special trip to see the pageant. It was a perfect evening for the pageant, with wonderful weather on the plains with a beautiful sunset. We enjoyed the show very much and you can tell the performers enjoy being part of it.
