Many people are not aware of this, but South Dakota has a Civil War Memorial to honor those that fought and died in the Civil War. It is located in Pierre, SD across from the Governors Mansion and was erected in 1918 and was dedicated on June 1, 1920. Many people drive by it every day, but few people stop and look at that tall monument in the small triangular park. Since I took my first few photos of the monument, there was a renovation project done to the immediate area, where a sidewalk was added up to and around the monument, along with benches, lights and an American Flag.
